My version of the vertical garden

I love these little plants, they can be very sensitive but if treated well they give so much in return.  They prefer indirect sunlight and moist soil.  I usually mist them a couple of times each week. They seem to thrive on that.

They are native to Corsica and Sardinia and is available in different hues of green.Their latin name is Soleirolia soleirolii, in SA they're called 'Peace in the home', in the UK "Mind your own business' and in NZ 'Baby's tears'.

I prefer Peace in the Home, that's what we're all aiming for, right?

In the photo you can see I used bamboo steamers, which I found at the op shop for next to nothing.  I chose them because I specifically wanted a round frame and bamboo don't rot.

I lined the frame with a plastic membrane filled with potting soil, used rope to secure all in place,t hen I carefully planted my Peace in the Home.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I should have known that rope is not a good idea - it rotted in an eyewink so I replaced it with fishing line. Also it's much easier to plant first and then secure in place.

And this is my version of the vertical garden.  What do you think? You going to give it a go? It's much easier that it sounds, I should have started with these years ago ...

Look what we did today ...

I pinned something similar on my 'To Do' board ... and guess what ... I can now move it to my 'Did It list'. This is such a fun activity and easy enough for little hands to do almost all on their own, here are the pics to prove it!

Spread the toilet roll paper with peanut butter (we used peanut butter but I'm sure you can use honey or jam or anything really ...), then roll it in the birdseed.

Hang it. This was a bit tricky as the small branches fanned out the moment you try to put the roll on, so I assisted a little ...
And now we wait for the little birdies to realise they can have a feast!

Sneak-peek video

A quick sneak-peek at the women behind The Words of the Wives ...!

I need to organise another rehearsal, some of the girls confessed they are getting very nervous, I think it's because we had such an overwhelming response from the congregation after we showed this little video.  We need to sell 80 tickets to fill the auditorium and as all the proceeds will go to the building fund for the extensions on our church i want to fill it to the brim!

Tomorrow I'll post a step-by-step bird feeder that little hands can make & marvel at! So watch this space!

The Word of the Wives Poster Done!

We have just finished editing The Word of the Wives poster, so excited! The Word of the Wives is a series of monologues written by Abby Guinness and Michelle Guinness.

These monologues give us an insight into what it must have been like to be the wives of some of the well-known biblical figures.

We're putting on a supper theatre evening at our church where four of those monologues will be performed.  I'm so excited! What do you think of the poster? It's my sister-in-law and her husband.

They're such a lovely couple and my very own personal photographer just have such an eye for a great shot!

So, first rehearsal happens this Thursday evening, very excited but a bit nervous as well, probably a good thing!  Apart from being super exciting it's also been an amazing journey to see God's hand in this whole project - wow!

I hope to keep you all posted, we'll be doing a short video as part of the advertising, so watch this space! xxx

Micah's Tree

I'm trying to post more often ... I'm failing miserably but at least I'm trying! That's the important bit, right?

Anyhoo!  Hubby and I tackled the tree for Micah's room - something we've been wanting to do for a while now.  And I'm so chuffed with the results! Just go to show what team work and a few hours can achieve!

Let me know what you think!
